Our Kaitaki Search Begins!

Our Kaitaki Search Begins!

This week we’re launching our search for more Eat New Zealand Kaitaki. This cohort of young food leaders is now 100 strong and includes farmers, fishers, health professionals, food waste experts, food security visionaries, winemakers, small food producers, food technologists, educators, iwi leaders, artists, writers, chefs and many, many others in the Aotearoa food system.

Thanks again to Our Land and Water National Science Challenge, we have another opportunity to add to this host of amazing humans.

And speaking of adding to… six of Aotearoa’s National Science challenges have come out in support of a National Food Strategy. Between them, they represent an extraordinary amount of research that speaks to a desire for better outcomes for our environment, and our people and society within it. It’s a powerful indictment. You can join the call as well by signing our petition here.

What it means to be a Kaitaki

Are you passionate about Aotearoa food and the future of New Zealand's food system? It's time to apply now (or encourage someone you know) to become an Eat NZ Kaitaki! We are looking for young individuals who represent all aspects of our food system; from food production to transformation, celebration and food experience.

Throughout the next 12 months (and beyond!) our Kaitaki are encouraged to foster collaboration over competition - while sharing and unearthing stories that highlight what makes New Zealand's food culture truly unique - including their own mahi/work.

The collective provides the opportunity for personal and professional growth and to connect with like-minded individuals to create meaningful change that contributes to the future of New Zealand food.

You can meet some of our current Kaitaki here or watch our 2021 Eat New Zealand Kaitaki to see what being part of this group has meant to them here.

For more info and to fill in the application form go here.

Kaitaki Key Dates:

20th August: Applications CLOSE at midnight.

21st - 27th August: Shortlisting & selections made by Eat New Zealand.

28th August - 1st Sept: All applicants contacted with outcome.
