  • Auckland 2

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city. It lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hūnua Ranges to the southeast, the Manukau Harbour to the southwest and the Waitākere Ranges to the west and northwest. Waiheke Island is one of seven islands in the Hauraki Gulf and is known for its olive groves, vineyards and impressive winery restaurants.

The region is bustling with cafés, ethnic eateries and award-winning restaurants, making for an exceptional food scene with a culinary signature of its own. Auckland's location between two harbours makes it easy to find fresh seafood that hasn't travelled far to reach the table. An abundance of outstanding produce is well represented in Auckland's hospitality businesses. Farmers' markets and the ever-increasing specialty food stores make fresh, local produce accessible to all urban dwellers. There are many well established wineries in the area, including one in South Auckland that is more than 50 years old and produces some of the most awarded wines in the world. Auckland is also the largest Polynesian city in the world and the most multi-cultural, adding to a wonderful exchange of food cultures that takes us on a food journey like no other.
