Essence of Tairāwhiti is an experience, iconic to Tairāwhiti. Feeding our guests souls with local goodness, sharing the rich culture of our region and telling stories of gathering and preparing food traditionally.

The festival experience will include a large array of local growers, producers and entertainment plus educational masterclasses and demonstrations hosted by local chefs, hunters, gatherers and artisan winemakers.

More than a food festival, It's about who we are, what we are, this is our essence of life. It’s about sharing our own experiences of food gathering, about whānau, community, about culture.

Essence has an all-inclusive ticket price, ensuring all ticket holders get to experience the true Essence of Tairāwhiti:

• 20 dishes prepared by top chefs showcasing food sourced from Tairāwhiti

• Wine, beer and non – alcoholic drinks created from locally grown and gathered products
