Our Eat NZ Kaitaki - Izzie Thompson of Ōtautahi @lookizziefood is an enthusiastic eater, poet, pickler, forager and works full time in architecture - she put together a series of three Haiku poems and film photos to represent her ‘Why’...


salt flakes, sprinkling, mist.
cleansing, cool, earth’s rich blanket.
take a drink. breathe blue

warm, juicy summer.
from green beginnings to this
plump, round, ripe as red

staples. savoury
yellow, from your pantry needs
to the lemon tree


Each piece represents a primary colour and the associated food / water / basic necessities.
It’s about how cooking - at the most basic level should be focused around using natural (primary) ingredients. See the full post over on IG here.
