Te Ruru Light Festival

Te Ruru Festival

Hosted by Matariki Ki Waikato Festival

Te Ruru Light Festival is back for 2021 with a one-night-only pop-up event on June 11th as part of Hamilton’s Innovating Streets Project.

This free, whānau friendly event is an opportunity to dip your toes into creativity, by viewing outstanding artwork by local creatives.

From 6 pm – 10 pm (weather permitting), we’ll be lighting up Hinemoa and Boyes Park with some favourites from last year’s pop-up festivals as well as some new works including a live performance with projections onto Founders Theatre. Food trucks will be on-site so you can grab some kai and explore the glowing installations.

Te Ruru Light Festival a unique family-friendly cultural art experience in the heart of our city under the stars of Matariki. This annual event transforms Kirikiriroa (Hamilton) into an engaging world of light and art. The festival offers an opportunity for our community to dip their toes into creativity, by viewing outstanding artwork displayed by local artists.
